[AMS2] P3 Champiosnhip - Donny MacGarry & Plank Liveries
#1
I'm happy to say that myself and Plank Liveries (Michael Martin) will be hosting a new Automobilista 2 championship. This championship will be on Mondays at 18:00 UTC (so two hours before our AC championship) and will use the P3 category of cars. The schedule is as follows:
  • 2022-01-31: Cascais Alternate (aka Circuito do Estoril with no chicane)
  • 2022-02-07: Kyalami 2019
  • 2022-02-14: Ibarra
  • 2022-02-21: Kansai (aka Suzuka GP)
  • 2022-02-28: Montreal (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the modern layout)
  • 2022-03-07: Mount Panorama
There are three cars in the P3 class
  • MetalMoro MRX Duratec P3
  • MetalMoro MRX Honda P3
  • Roco 001
I'm pretty sure they are decently balanced, but they do have differences in personality (the Roco is the least powerful but is the lightest for example). I plan to drive all three cars in two races each anyway. If you want to see more information about these cars, then check out this webpage from the Cars of AMS2 Unofficial Fanpage https://ams2cars.info/brazilian-series/i...endurance/ .

The championship will use some real weather too. The plan for it is to use the real weather at the track's location at 1pm that day. So race two for example will have the weather for Kylami on the 7th of February at 1pm. Real weather will mean some interesting things. We could have rain in some races. We'll also have to deal with cold track temperatures for races at tracks in the northern hemisphere. I tried Montreal last week with real current weather (so middle of January) and it was -8 track temperatures, so it could still be pretty cold there at the end of February. That would mean tyres will be quite cold causing grip levels could be a lot lower than normal. The races are all set for 1pm in-game time too if that isn't clear.

Myself and Michael will be streaming the races, so be sure to check it out (Hopefully Sergio can show up too). We'll also most likely be on the SRS discord voicechat during the race, so feel free to join in if you are racing. I'll do my best to help out if you are having any issues

Make sure you have a check mark on the Automobilista 2 item in your profile to allow you to see the races on the race page. You won't be able to see them on the AC app or in CM for AC if I remember correctly, but you can see them if you open up SRS on a web browser or the AMS2 SRS app. Follow the steps to download the AMS2 SRS app as there are a few things you need to do. Take note, that unlike with the AC races, if you leave the server early then your result from the AMS2 SRS race won't be logged. This happens even if you leave the race after you have finished but before the server has closed. So just wait a few minutes until you get a message that says you have been disconnected from the server, then you are free to leave. Be sure to check out the News post for the other AMS2 championship, especially if you are in a USA timezone, or race early mornings from Aussie timezones, or very late nights in European time zones. That one uses the McLaren MP4/12 from the Formula V10 Gen 1 category which is a lot of fun, and its hosted by Sim Racing Revolution.

Yeah that was a fun race even if my car had a GP2 engine. So it seems the cars mightn't have been as balanced as I thought. The Metalmoro with the turbo was an absolute beast on the straights, I stood no chance in my pathetic naturally aspirated Honda engine. I was speaking to Steelcast27 after the race who is an expert on all things AMS2 and setups. He said that the cars are a bit more balanced in endurance races which is what they race irl. The turbo engine guzzles its fuel which is what is a balancing factor. So for 20 minute sprint races, it doesn't run into fuel issues and thus has a bit of an advantage. So it might be a good car for most tracks, especially ones at altitude as AMS2 takes that into account and turbos will dominate there. Sergio did say thought that the Rocco felt quite fast and nimble on the smaller Brazilian circuits, so maybe there are tracks where that will be quick enough to be a good option.

Steelcast27 also said to expect default setup changes to the P3 class when the 1.3.3 update comes out. That update is meant to be out at the end of the month, which could be in the next few hours knowing Reiza, or delayed to the end of the week possibly. There may also be physics tweaks to the car as well, and our setups might need to be refreshed. I'll let ye know about that when the update comes out.

The 1.3.3 update came out a few days ago https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/a...3-1.23463/

They mention a bunch of cars got setup changes including the P3 cars
"Updated default setups for M1 Procar, Groupa A (both models), GT3 (all models), Corvette C3-R, Porsche RSR 1974, Ginetta G40 Cup, G40 GT5, Porsche Cup, Stock Car 2021 / 2022, Mercedes CLK, AJR (all variants), MRX (all variants), Roco (setup reset recommended), F3s"
So I would recommend resetting your setup to default by pressing the button in the setup menu, even if you didn't change anything last week. You could even delete your setups folder too if you want to refresh everything.
Documents\Automobilista 2\savegame\<numbers>\automobilista 2\tuningsetups
You will need to make a new setup again, as previous ones will have been changed a bit due to the update. Do this after resetting the setup to default, don't adjust an old setup.

Kyalami is looking like it will be clear skies tomorrow, so I'm expecting no rain and a hot enough track.
