DONK's M1 Procar Championship - AMS2
#17
Well done to everyone who survived last week's race at (not) Monaco, that was a very tough stressful race and it was pretty clean for the most part from what I can tell. It was great to see similar numbers to the previous week as well.

Tomorrow's race is at Adelaide. There seems to be a bit of an issue with the track mesh here, so be warned that the track is incredibly bumpy. Combine that with some large curbs and its very easy for the car to get unsettled, lose balance and cause you to end up in a wall.
Also there was an update today that changed the gearing of the M1 Procar. I did some practice earlier in the week and the gear ratio I went with that day, was no longer good when I tried it today, so I had to change it again.

Snatched 2nd position from Sjoerd right into turn 1, and then Andre Tristao the leader makes a mistake at Casino and goes wide banging at the barrier. While he gathers back up, down towards Mirabeau I manage to snatch the lead from him. As I took a glance at the replay, it looked like I hit him on the inside while passing as he went wide again. But from my replay no contact was made. I was up against the walls at Mirabeau and there was almost 1 meter between us when he suddenly went wide there, like he was being pushed. I was kind of confused but that's got to be AMS2 netcode as Andre is racing from Brazil. AC is still much better there, in my opinioin. So, eventually I tried to just drive kind of carefully and fast enough and was able to stretch a bit of the lead towards the end.

Performance was similar to AC for me, with great AMS2 graphics. Occasionally would get some frame drops and micro freezes so I would miss braking points a bit here and there. But again, I was lucky to have a clear track in front most of the race. I made quite a few little mistakes, brushing the barriers a couple of times. That squeaky brushy sound makes me laugh so hard. In the second half I got loose into the Pools area through the fast chicane and banged the barrier hard. I wasn't laughing that much anymore and I expected a bent toe-link or something, but the car still went good. It seems from the results all those little brushes against walls didn't count except that big one, as I've got 1 incident point registered.

I didn't fiddle much with setups, except hoping more front anti-roll bar, more ride height and a bit softer springs could help me with bumps. Tire pressures were kind of more important to me as I don't know the proper ideal figure. It seems to me that if tires are at ~1.9 bars when warm, the car turns quite well and especially around here. Almost too good, as it was very loose after a couple of laps when tires warmed up and pressures got built up. Any ideas on ideal tire pressures in AMS2?
Sorry Filip for the late response, I didn't see your post earlier in the week. Congrats on the race win.

Netcode can be weird in AMS2. I remember from the JCW Mini championship last season that there was an incident between Moonie and James Tumility that was a complete netcode issue. From James' perspective, it looked like Moonie sideswiped him and force him offtack on the straight. From Moonie's perspective, he was over a full car length ahead, moved across to slot in front of James and suddenly in the rear view mirror James just moved offtrack. Seems like something similar happened to you last week which is unfortunate.

I had one light front end tap of the barrier with 3 minutes to go which got me an incident point, so the hits don't have to be too hard to get one. Interesting that light brushes didn't cause any for you, I didn't want to risk those at all.

Setup last week, I just changed gearing and steering ratio (or whatever its called, the thing that is set at 20 something degrees). I was told the ideal tyre pressures are similar to Project cars 2, so you might find this helpful http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthr...Tyre-Temps . I've been aiming for 1.7 bar, which the default gets pretty close to after 2 laps, so only a few clicks lower are needed and probably not overly necessary. I might test 1.9 bar tomorrow before the race, to see if that feels nicer though. Be sure to check out what I said above about a new update changing gearing in this car.
