Anyone else from TX taking a break?
#1
Busted pipe in my apartment ruined my display, wheel, pedals and seat. I saved the PC at least so it coulda been worse! But it'll be a bit before I get back to racing. Anyone else on hiatus while they figure out how to get their water back on and carpet/ceiling repaired before getting back on the track?

Fire for California and Ice for Texas. Must be a song in there somewhere. I have a logitech 920 wheel and pedal set I can ship out to you to 'tide' you over, if that would help.

That's super kind of you! Right now I'm just waiting in "line" for my insurance to deal with what is likely thousands and thousands of customers while also waiting for all of my carpet to be removed and replaced by my apt. complex. It seems a huge waste of effort to try to get my rig back up and running. Besides... without the display I think trying to sim on my laptop or something would just drive me insane. Big Grin

I think I'll survive without for a while.

Thanks for the well wishes from everyone. I didn't intend this to be a "poor Russell" thread or anything. There's folks sleeping under highways where I am that don't have anything at all so me whining about having a few grand worth of expensive toys get a little wet makes me feel a bit icky.

My guess is I'll be out for at least a couple more weeks. But you never know!

oh shit Russel!

Not in Texas, but I'm currently taking a brake because we bought an aparment that doesn't get finished because of Corona. So we currently live in a temporary apartment without space for a wheel.

I only race singleplayer during the weekends sometimes in my parents' basement.

its pretty crazy to see something like this possible in the us, we had minus 20 here also for few weeks, but we are kinda used to it, pipes deep in ground, houses with enough isolation and electric grid up to date, so cold like this aint big issue here, its just anoying. Texas has to work on its infrastructure with some kind of smart plan, not just max profit, because these extremes are gonna get worse, we are putting way too much energy in the atmosphere and it has to go somewhere which means more severe weather.
