I haven't actually compared it against the default setup, it shouldn't be drastically different though. Spending more time on higher revs might be cause of higher fuel consumption.
On another note, compared to BMW, Primera is a lot more thirsty. I know that it typically needs >48L for a 20min race (generally even more) whereas BMW can cover the race distance with much less.
