AMS 2 Formula Trainer car?

The incident reporting in AMS2 is still really dodgy too, and worst of all it's still a mystery as when they will trigger.
Crew chief is really helpful. There is a setting that delays how long after the start it starts spotting around you. You want to reduce this to get spotting right from the start.

Unfortunately for me this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Everyone has priorities for what they want from a sim and mine is competitive multiplayer. It's clear that AMS2 + SRS is not the right combo for me at the moment. The game is unstable and one game crash has meant I have zero chance of winning the championship even if I win the last race to make it 5/6. The points structure in SRS is designed for packed multi split servers. If this was AC I could just run in another session and have the result register towards the championship. But that's not an option here and I rarely get anyone to race in the Ginetta series so I'm excluded from that championship too.

On Friday I signed up for iRacing and the appeal of a multitude of races throughout the day is great for my needs. The game just feels so 'sorted' compared to the still wet behind the ears AMS2. I'm not used to the sim yet so it still feels a bit foreign but in time that will change. The only downside is the hit to my wallet.

I won't be continuing here but I did want to say how much I enjoyed racing with our group over the last few months. The camaraderie is something I will definitely miss in iRacing. Best of luck in the remainder of this series and any to come. Smile
Well competitive multiplayer iRacing is indeed really good. I tried it for3 months, the physics engine is a little odd. I didnt like it too much, FFB kinda pale compared to other sims, but the ranked races sistem with splits is indeed very good.

You should also consider Raceroom, the new Ranked servers system is running races every half hour, as long you do get into the server during practice and wait most of the time you will get people to join.
Already had 4-5 races there and one was on the Formula Trainer in Spielberg, had 8 people on the server and it was really good racing too.

AMS 2 has some netcode issues still, yes, but as far as simulation and content and how easy it is to setup a lobby are really good points, netcode will be sorted out eventualy. I´m playing it more and more lately. These series on SRS are awesome, hope we still get at least two series.
For us in Brazil the formula trainer time is 20:30 a little too early, but not bad.

I think the problem with the ginetta series is exactly the oposite, it has too many time schedules. And so few people have AMS 2 at the moment that I think it should be a single schedule series like the formula trainer one. maybe a friday night series starting a little later. So we could get more people to join the same race.

Anyway good luck, I´ll miss your ghosts Big Grin

I'll still keep AMS2 installed and might have a go from time to time, but knowing me once I've mentally moved on I'll be completely focused on the next thing.

The iRacing physics/FFB is an interesting discussion. I was expecting the cars to be unrecoverable after a slide but wasn't sure since the V7 tyre model is meant to be improved for this. It's definitely less forgiving but I feel it's more realistic to skid pan days I've done in real life. You can catch slides but past a certain point there's no chance. In AMS2 I got pretty good at catching some outrageous slides. The cars were always fun to drive and felt 'alive', but now I understand the simcade label it's been given by some (although I think that's too harsh). I have to drive more sensibly so far in iRacing, with more respect to losing the car. I need to be smooth, where as in AMS2 I was becoming a specialist at driving with the car on a constant oversteering knife edge.

FFB is interesting too. At first the strength was way too low and it was so vague. I cranked it up with some minimum force and it's much better. Not as much feedback for general weight transfer as AMS2 but a lot more violent if you clip a curb, which feels more realistic. The car feels heavier and more life like in that respect. Ideally I'd like a mix of the two.

One strange thing is not having live tyre and brake temp feedback. I guess that's more realistic too.

I'm out of rookie class now for road racing so i just need to practice and gain confidence. Anyways I've hijacked the thread enough, best of luck in the last round.

Dont change the times
The Ginetta series has a good schedule Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening at a time which doesn't interfere with the rest of weekend activities.
I'm sick of leagues and club races always starting at 19:00 or 20:00 UTC which ends up being 21:00 or 22:00 for Europe.
That ends up being slap bang in the middle of the evening and no way is that going to fly with the wife.

My suggestion would be it to start even later. not sooner.

Exactly my point. It starts at 17:30 UTC which is 19:30 over here in mainland Europe. All done by 20:15 and I get to race and have an evening. Times are currently perfect

We will miss you Michael. But yes, AMS2 is currently not a good option for competitive racing, so your decision is totally understandable.

Next track (VIR north) is also a lot of fun, but it is very difficult to master and to be fast there. Let's hope enough people join so we can have an official race.

About the times, I guess this one (11:30 UTC) was perfect for the Brazilian guys, but except Vitor, most of them didn't continue coming to the races. For me it is OK, although I have to stay awake a little bit later than what is normal for me. But I usually can't race before 10:00 UTC because my kid still awake before that (I am located in GMT +1), so I am in a weird position were my racing hours are too late for Europe and too early for the guys in America, so this 11:30 in the end worked for me.
