I wouldn't mind it. But more for a fact that I think that 1h races would be more interesting with something like an open wheeler. 
Especially from tire wear POV. Now it's mostly put on mediums and pit either halfway or fill her up and pit later with shorter second stint. I don't remember when I saw 1h race with 2 stops, if the tank can get you over 50%.
Hopefully ACC will be a success and become main GT series. Then moving GT3s to the 20 min could open up the slot for a little bit of experimentation. But on the other hand, there's a question of how much does it make sens to "waste" 1h races on something that might not be as popular as GT2/3...
