Champions of champions series?
#11
I thought about this, obviously now I only give an idea that will have to be developed, for someone it could be very interesting or also not very good.

We could take, from each championship of the current season, all those people who at the end of it will have passed a certain threshold of points. But this threshold will be different for each type of championship, dependent on the frequency of the races.

For example, the weekly championships (such as that of the Porsche 911 s
Singer, or the F1 2005 (even if in these that are done in the weekend there are more attempts) or the Catheram) will have a tot of points above which you can access this Champions of Champions series (for example, 540). Instead for the daily ones (like the one-hour races with the Porsche Cayman GT4, or those with the Ginetta GT5 and the Russell Alexis) they will have a higher threshold of points, since often the winner of these series reaches 612 points (maximum, all the weeks wit a 102(win without incs in the 1st split)), so the threshold may be around ~ 600 points.

I think that this could  "select" the drivers for that special championship. Obviously the main problem is the car selection, or the timezone (expecially for  Americans).
If this championship will be done, it could has a 15 minute qualifying and a 30/40 minute race

Like i said in the beginning, I just gave an idea of what could be done, maybe we could use this system or Alex's one (top 100/300)

I would love to see a return of the multiclass 2.4 hour races that ran last year.

I believe that they had 600+ for GT2, and 700+ for LMP1.

I was gutted that I could not make the second race.

The other issue was the way the incident rating works.

Multiclass events with rating requeriments were nice, I can't wait to see it again on SRS.

But if you can, then instead of a prize just get a human TV director and announcer(s) for the series and broadcast on Discord. That should get drivers interested and pull a decent audience.
Plenty of utubers here; built in audience, commentator. Perhaps one or more of them would host.

Yeah, I'm not good enough to compete on track in such a series, but I've done broadcasts before and would be happy to do it again.

It would be nice to see something different at SRS. I like the idea of a 'world championship' but I think that it could planned like a playoff, where every round the players with less points are eliminated until you have a final with the best 10-20 drivers.
I've seen championships in other sims that follow similar rules and they attract a lot of people, so I think that it could work here and bring new people.

By the way, I can't wait to see multiclass races here again. There's no way to find this kind of races outside iRacing so it would be nice to have them here as weekly or monthly events, but this time with shorter races.

Awesome camerawork and commentating, it looks pro!

I guess it makes sense to have it on a Youtuber channel instead of the SRS feed for the reasons Jim said, but it also occurred to me this whole idea kinda goes against the very ethos of SRS which is to be a low-maintenance ranking service. Any of this would just add workload for Enrique unless it's organized by a Youtuber.

So maybe it's a matter of getting a Youtuber to commit to a best-of-SRS series... hey - that spells B.O.S.S.!

But the only way I could figure that would work is if an account were created just for the purpose of having a dedicated camera car on the grid to stream this series (apart from SRS-TV), and the account would otherwise remain dormant. Except the account would have to have enough rating to make it onto the grid LOL! Or maybe I'm not thinking it through properly. I don't stream, so I could be making it more complicated than it needs to be.

Pasha, you are a very good driver, but you would be the best commentator SRS’s could have because you’ve been here for a long time, you know the drivers and that’s a key because it would make any stream more real. And you are a great streamer, it’s nice to hear you talking, and as a non-native English speaker, I can say I understand you very good with my poor English-skills. I vote for Pasha! (If you’d need it! Hahaha)

Aw, shucks. Thanks. Big Grin (blushing)

To Martin's points: For SRO, I was given the login for their official YouTube channel, and broadcasted live on that channel, but joined the race as myself. (The exception was that first race, which they allowed me to host from my channel, because it coincided with the Extra Life 24-hour charity event.) However, knowing how AC's server registration works, it would be possible to pre-register the commentators on the server in a way that their names are overwritten as "SRS TV 1", "SRS TV 2", etc. Sure, it would be great if I could enter the race session without blowing up my driver rating, but I'd be willing to take that hit for the benefit of providing commentary for a major SRS event. And since we're talking about the best drivers on SRS, I'm sure I would finish at the back either way, so it doesn't really make a difference. Big Grin

If we put Gary Paterson's Ford Transit van mod on the official AC mod list, maybe we could even have an official broadcast truck. Big Grin

RLM’s ACC events streams are stunning. I would love to watch the same in some srs’ special events. Thanks for letting us to dream, Pasha!
