Assetto Corsa Skin Transfer App V1.1
Obviously the coders can triubleshoot it better but that doesn't mean others can't contribute something. I mean the skin file is the largest and most manipulated file and it's the one that is most often missing. Maybe it's triggering some security block in certain cases? It doesn't do any good to eliminate possible sources of the problem by saying the program is supposed to work this way or that way. The program doesn't work as intended! Anything can be wrong.

I'm just trying to leverage your enthusiasm into something potentially productive, but of course there's no way to know if such efforts would have any benefit at all in the end. You don't see me lift a finger after all LOL.

But I do wonder about it. Like if I look at all the skin folders with missing skin files, what do these users have in common? CM? Gimp? Dunno.

At least, it's just a file. Regardless of its content, it should just be copied by the APP. If I create a .txt file with just 3 million zeros and rename it to .dds, it should be copied anyway. I checked some skin folders here on my harddisk. The App has downloaded felt 90% of all custom "Skin_00.dds". Only some are missing.

And yes, maybe it has something to do with WindowsX? With the firewall? With administrative rights? With Antivirus?
I created exception rules for the .exe found in the App-folder in my antivirus and firewall incoming and outgoing. Don't know, whether it's necessary.

  1. Delete the content of the folder "max_mustermann"
  2. Copy the content of the other skin to the folder "max_mustermann"
  3. Restart AC
  4. The SRS-App will upload the new choosen skin next time he races on an SRS-Server.

You have most of this correct, except for the above part. If people have already downloaded a skin in the folder "max_mustermann", they will not get an updated version at a later date unless Max has a newer time-stamped "max_mustermann" to upload. The app's author has stated a few times on the forums that updates don't happen by just changing the files in the folder; the folder has to be new as well.

All of that said... the transfer app certainly has been having issues as of late. I was in the 2Old4Forza/GTP race on Tuesday and normally the SRS transfer app will only attempt to grab new skins before the race and maybe during qualification? But I remember hearing it say "Skins unavailable" DURING the race... like maybe 2-3 laps in?

So something is certainly off.

I'm happy to help troubleshoot, as one of the reasons I love SRS is that I get to paint cars with the hope that others actually get to see my work. If no one can see my liveries, I'll be much less likely to bother. Smile

Ok, thanks. Thought, it compares file sizes, too.

I am wondering about this message:

It shows "No skins downloaded" simultaneously with "Downloaded=1". So, maybe there we can see a problem? I don't know...

I added some steps in my post to change the modification date of the files in the skin-folder to current timestamp:
https://www.simracingsystem.com/showthre...4#pid43084

Or u can download the following small batch-file, put it in your custom skin-folder and execute it.

This changes the modification date of all files in the folder, where u execute it, and it gonna force the APP to upload ur skin-folder content again next race.

Kind Regards

From what we've been told by the creator of the app, it only updates of the FOLDER'S creation date is newer than it has. I am guessing taking this route to see if an update is required means that it isn't paying any attention to the file sizes or their modification dates. It simply looks to see if the folder is new, and if so, pulls all the files in there up. Since I don't see "make a new folder" in your steps, I don't think they are complete. Your batch file won't do the trick either.

Granted, we've seen various levels of pulling new files up even in new folders not going to plan, so really I have no idea how this thing works exactly.

No Russel,
my way works. I tried it a lot of times. Executed the skript and the App re-uploaded all stuff.
And I never changed the folders date. So, it works, I think. I have to check on next SRS-TV-stream with a new skin.
It would be very strange, if someone is changing his skin by adding some detail or whatever (and the modification date with it) and always have to ctreate a new folder to force a reupload. Re-saving the skin-files should be enough.

It IS very strange, but that's how Henrique explained how to get SRSTV to get the new skin files when you update them. If your way works, super!

Ok, after the APP re-uploaded the skin, I still see my old one on SRS-TV. Now I try to change something with the folder...
The question is, why the APP tells me, after I change the timestamps of the files, "Your skin has been updated"
...Strange
Stay tuned. I tell u, what's going on the next race.  Big Grin

Recently the app will tell me that my skin has been updated every single race... even though I haven't touched my Skip Barber skin for 5+ seasons. It didn't used to do that.
