Assetto Corsa Skin Transfer App V1.1
short update - raced today - SRS told me that my skin was updated

root cause explained above - GIMP did not update file date

I don't think I would have ever encountered that using Photoshop, but one thing I have recently started doing in my workflow creating skins is to work in 4096x4096 files and then when I want to see the skin, I save all merged layers down to a new 2048x2048 DDS file into my skin directory. This has the benefit of using Photoshop's downscaling (which does a pretty great job of keeping detail when you half the resolution) but also for creating a brand new file over the top of the previous one every single time. I'm sure you could do the same type of thing in GIMP (I'm pretty sure GIMP has the equivelent of Photoshops "Actions").

I run my process based on a Youtube video

1) skin drawing with Photoshop
2) JPG export
3) JPG import to GIMP
4) DDS export with GIMP

I do not like this multiple tool work
Is there a way to avoid GIMP? I yes I would prefer it -> ??? is it possible to export DDS out of my Photoshop file ???

Ciao

Oh lord yes. Depends on what version of Photoshop you have. If it is anything up to CS6, you want to google "nvidia photoshop plugin" and install either the 32bit or 64bit version of the plugin depending on what your Photoshop is. If you are on the latest Photoshop (Creative Cloud or CC), then you may need to instead use the Intel Texture Works plugin to get DDSs out of it. Google "intel photoshop dds plugin". They both pretty much do the same things. If you have Photoshop, there is like no reason you should be using GIMP.

Hello Guys,

Today in the race, somebody used my skin in an official race, i uploaded it with my name and he used it for the race. It was the RSR Euro race on 21:00 GMT, i raced too, so there were the same skin twice, i used mine an the driver „Alberto Andrade“ used it too.

I put some work into the skin, its unfair that someone else can use it.

I hope u can do something against that.

LINK: There's a big ole thread about this over in the general sub-forum. Feel free to bring up your thoughts there, but this is how skins on video game models work: if someone can see your skin in game, they have access to selecting it themselves. It may be possible to programatically prevent folks from using skins that are "registered" to other users, but it likely isn't worth SRSAdmin's time to implement such a thing. Consensus is to alter your preview.jpg such that it will be painfully obvious to other users that your skin is not a stock skin at livery selection.

Hello

Looking back on the youtube channel does not show the whole skin. The front of the car is fine but it does not look the rear of the car. Why ?

Did you get in a race with your skin in the state shown in the Youtube pic at one point, and then go back and join a different race with your final skin? I have an ongoing theory (not yet confirmed by SRSAdmin) that the SRSTV client does not restart its client before the race starts. So the theory is that something like this happened:

1) You create skin A, which is mostly white and such... maybe you don't fully export it correctly at first or something.
2) You join race A, and skin A gets uploaded to SRSTV client. You finish this race.
3) You fix your skin (skin B).
4) You join race B, and while skin B gets uploaded to SRSTV client, SRSTV client still has skin A for the CURRENT RACE. And this is what shows in the youtube video.
5) You join race C with no changes to your skin, and SRSTV (having been restarted since your second race) now should have the correct skin from now on.

Confirm/deny?

I updated the date that ended the race, says joining after updating the skin apparently all right but youtube on the broadcast does not show well Sad

Sorry, my wall of text may not translate well over google translate. I'll try to be very clear:

The youtube video is recorded using a client called "SRSTV" which joins the race on server 1, and broadcasts the video. That client is just like any other client: it must restart the client when it receives an updated skin. So if you had JUST updated your skin, the race you are currently in will not show the updated skin on the broadcast. You will have to wait until the SRSTV client sees in again in the future.

Hope that makes sense!

If none of the above makes sense, the solution is: just join a new race, and it should be fixed next time!
