Assetto Corsa Skin Transfer App V1.1
I don't think I would have ever encountered that using Photoshop, but one thing I have recently started doing in my workflow creating skins is to work in 4096x4096 files and then when I want to see the skin, I save all merged layers down to a new 2048x2048 DDS file into my skin directory. This has the benefit of using Photoshop's downscaling (which does a pretty great job of keeping detail when you half the resolution) but also for creating a brand new file over the top of the previous one every single time. I'm sure you could do the same type of thing in GIMP (I'm pretty sure GIMP has the equivelent of Photoshops "Actions").
