Safety Rating on SRS?
#1
A small group of the forum's usual suspects has recently discussed possible practical measures to encourage more drivers to race safely and therefore make the SRS experience even more enjoyable for everybody. Some agreement has been found around the idea of a "Safety Rating", which is simply a driver's incident average calculated on the last 50 races. Why 50 races? Because it encourages drivers with a high "historic" inc avg to invest in safety and lower their Safety Rating in a relatively short period of time. If such rating were to be introduced, it could be used to make, for example, one of the hourly series only open to drivers with a Safety Rating below 2. Especially if it was applied in series with highly coveted cars, this could possibly be a "carrot" to encourage better driving, in addition to the "stick" of the protest forms.

I have put up a very short survey (30 seconds max) to test the waters with the larger community: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/H6LLNTW

If you take the survey, please be honest and vote only once.

Please note:

1. This is NOT in any way a complaint about SRS. The results of the survey will be shared with the Admins for their information and possible consideration.

2. This post is NOT intended to generate further discussion. The issue has been discussed already until the cows came home, several times over. If you think this is a useless or stupid idea, just disagree with the 4 questions in the survey. If you think you have better ideas, kindly make a separate post.

Thanks everybody.

But who would want to race in a 1 hour long race with a bunch of safe drivers? 1 Hour races are already boring, right? Big Grin

Me! But I must improve my inc ratio, now it’s just 2.01!
I like Pete’s idea so much.

Sorry Russell and everybody - my bad for not explaining better. By "hourly" series I didn't mean one hour long races. I meant the 20 minute series that run every hour, which are the most popular and - with the right car - the most likely to act as "carrot".

the idea is great and i would love it to come one day but then i need my inc to come down and it can be hard because the races i have being in i have being rammed from behind and some unlucky to get caught in other people accidents
and of course i have gone in the wall a few times but it is a very good idea

I understood "20-min race every hour) and my vote in the poll was based on that

I should be better at parsing English. Unlike probably 80% of the drivers here, I only speak the one language.

Hi Pete,

Filled in the survey but inc 2 is low.
When I look at the dtm series, there 20 people over 2 in the top 50.

I did my first race this weekend in this series and a lot of people screwed up my inc rate by crashing before me so i couldn't avoid them.

Likely most of the top 50 would have less than 2 if it only counted the last 50 races. Speculation and I can't be bothered to look at the histories of everyone with +2 right now, but that's the reason for the "last 50" as opposed to lifetime.
