What does "SP" mean?
#1
Question
I have searched around the SRS website and forum and, for the life of me, I just can't figure out what the SP column is in the series ranking tables. Can someone please clue me in??? I'm sure it will be a *facepalm* moment for me. Ha!

I think it's "Sum of Positions". Lower = Better. It's used as tiebreaker criteria after Wins>2nds>3rds.

I'm also trying to figure it out but it's not 'sum of positions' if you look at this standings table:

Guys tied at 182 points are clearly not ranked by SP. also if you look at Ramon Derer, he has an SP of 5 with 2 races, so he would have had to finish in the top 3 at some pojnt but he has no top 3 finishes.

I'm kinda enjoying this mystery, it's like a puzzle and I can't wait for my 'facepalm' moment when I find out. Or my 'eureka' moment if I figure it out.

You won't see anyone ranked by it unless all of these are identical first: Wins and 2nds and 3rds. The guys tied at 182 are not tied for Wins and 2nds, so they are ordered as you would expect.

Not sure how Ramon's SP of 5 from 2 races works out. Maybe a bug? I'm almost positive that "Sum of Positions" IS what it stands for, however. It's been mentioned on the forums a number of times.

Oh, maybe it's the sum of positions after the top 3? So like finishing P4 gets you 1 SP, P5 gets you 2 SP, and so on...?

EDIT: Nope that's not it either LOL. Fun mystery though.

EDIT2: Actually it looks like the sum of positions for everyone else, so maybe Ramon had a P5 and a DNF?

He won split 2 with 1 inc : 77

4th in split 1 with 1 inc : 89

= 5 SP

(Wins in split 2 are not reported as win)
