Force to pits because of... why?
#1
Can someone let me know how I was supposed to rejoin the track soon enough to not get automatically teleported to the pits and then put a lap down on top of that? I lost control at VIR and went safely into the grass. I turned around to try to get back on track as soon and as close as I could... but before I could even start towards the track the game just put me in the pits, gave me what I think was a 60 seconds no controls penalty, and then when I finally did go back out on track I was showing a lap down on everyone (last place and exiting the pits towards the middle of the pack... right into traffic).
Is this some sort of anti-wrecker prevention that was triggered because my McLaren didn't want to face the correct way on the track soon enough? The grass on this track is like a giant oil slick. It wasn't like I was trying to cut the track or had plans on re-entering right into someone or something. Sigh.

I wondered why you were in the pits....might be an out of bounds there somewhere but many, many drivers go off at that spot, i see nothing you did to deserve a penalty...

Yeah there's 4/5 zones on that track where if you go off and hit the boundry, you're classed as out of bounds - I think creators use it to prevent massive cuts, but of course it has it's drawbacks.

I posted this video on their discussion thread over on racedepartment. One of the guys on there suggested that the problem is that that type of penalty happens either if you are facing the wrong way for too long OR if you go two wheels off the ground for too long. And then they posted the fact that that part of the track is super low poly... meaning the possibility of going 2 wheels off is fairly high. Not sure if they are going to address it in a patch or not.

I also complained about the fact that grass in general is slippery (VIR actually has LESS slipper grass than default Kunos tracks apparently), but it feels like grass friction in general is just way off in this sim. Anyway... moral of the story is to not lose control in an open field where mappers likely were a bit cheap on the polygons. Smile

Does it happen with every track or just one specific track?

I don't make it a habit of losing control on fast corners that open up into a grassy field. In other words... I have no idea. Big Grin

New video of it happening... I think it's a combination of track specific and AC having dumb anti-cheater rules.
