RS01 Pitstop - Tyres? - Richie Hatchet - 07-31-2020

Hi,

I just joined SRS and was looking at the RS01 series...do people take tyres at the pitstop?

thx
Richie

(my join date says oct 2017...but never raced here!)

The RS01 1hr race series have tire wear set at 170% so yes, change tires at pit stop. Fuel is at 200% rate so you will need lots of fuel too. When you are on SRS and looking at the list of races, click on the small white rectangle at the right side of the blue header and it will tell you what the race conditions are.

In general, for the hour-long races, the refueling will take as long as the tire change, so you're better off doing both.

Last season's Audi series was an exception, because the tire wear and fuel usage were low, so you could get away with a short fuel-only stop.

thanks Pasha...did a race on saturday and found that to be the case

I did a two-stop strategy at Road America (it was a bad idea but I wanted to try it just to experiment) and the refueling took as long as the tire change so there's really no reason not to change tires.
