Helicorsa App to avoid contacts - Paolo Vittorini - 05-07-2020

After having few races here, I noticed most contacs happen in turns while overtaking.
There's a great App called "Helicorsa" (for free at racedepartment website) that shows when the cars close. That's very useful, because I'm pretty sure most contacts are unintentional and caused by a lack of situation awarness, expecially the side contacts when the overtaken car tries to regain the apex line, hitting the other racer.
Besides the SRS Apps, I suggest the use of Helicorsa, wishing it as mandatory.
This is my opinion.

I dont know if its possible to put it as mandatory! I do agree is a great option for those of us who have just one monitor and dont use 3 or VR.
Along this line I will add that having the map activated is also a great option to avoid those that want to re-enter the track after a spin or a crash can see if traffic is coming before they attempt the manouver.

I hope Helicorsa won't be mandatory, because I find Car Radar much better, as it also shows the direction a car is heading, which is quite useful in for example T1 situations.

Using brain should be mandatory, especially for t1 Smile

I have tried both and settled on Car Radar as well.
Certainly everyone should be encouraged to use one of them but I don't think that there is a way to make it mandatory.
I best thing that can be done to improve the racing is to use the protest form. It might be a bit of a pain but if it never gets done, we can't complain about the driving.

I have both and use both at the same time. It's been brought up before as being mandatory and nothing came of it. I don't even know how feasible it would be to attempt to enforce it anyway... most people that use the app put the damned thing in a location that they can't even see while racing up close anyway. Hey Russell
What is the advantage of putting both apps on top of each other?

Never heard of Car Radar, is it on Racedepartment as well?

I was not complainig about other players driving, some are good, some are not, and few kick you out of track intentionally for a previous contact or because thay can't overtake you in a safe way.
Helicorsa, Car Radar or any other similar app should be encouraged for a better racing experience  Smile

I like the proximity warning in Helicorsa and the car representation in Car Radar.

Helicorsa also lets me use a custom image for the entire graphic, as well as what the proximity side to side warnings look like. Car Radar won't let me do either, and it's proximity warning is not just "left/right" but from all directions. I really only care if a car is along side.

Car Radar uses the models for the car for their translation and orientation so you get an accurate indication of when a car loses traction and spins.

So basically both on top of each other gives me best of both worlds. If Car Radar let me use custom graphics and only lit up for left/right proximity, I'd just use Car Radar. If you only want to use one, I'd pick Car Radar.
