VRC Chevrette Project: IROC '89 - Pasha Paterson - 03-16-2020

I'm working from home this week like everyone else who's able to do so, and in times of slackage (there are a lot of long software builds Angel ) I've been working on... a little something.

Anybody remember the International Race of Champions?

Well I used to absolutely loved watching these races as a kid, and the Camaros they used in 1989 look almost exactly like the VRC Chevrette 28, which is also labelled as coming from 1989. So naturally...

I expect I'll have the full set of twelve done in a day or two, plus a few Easter egg extras because I can't resist.  Big Grin

I am having a couple of difficulties, though, so I figured I'd reach out to the community.
  • The glass texture (glass.dds) doesn't have a wireframe, so I'm having trouble aligning the driver name that should be at the top of the front windshield. I need someone to export this texture in 2D with some kind of guides on it so I can put the names on.
  • The wheels (rim.dds) need to be silver and shiny with high specular reflectivity. I... haven't learned how to do that yet.  Blush
If someone could help me out with the two items above then I'd love to throw a 13th car into the set with their name, favorite number higher than 12, and colors (main and stripe) of their choice, as part of the eventual release on RaceDepartment.

And until then, stay tuned; this is going to be good.  Cool

Those look fantastic already, takes me right back to the 80s! Can't wait to see a full field of these on track.

I would have loved to make something for this but sadly, this car seems to be the only one that Content Manager won't give me the Extract KN5 button for and kn5conv.exe won't work with this one either, so...

I've noticed that too! Fortunately I've been able to work around it so far.

The image link seems broken, so to give folks a taste of where these cars are coming from, here's the actual race where this driver/number/color combination was used.

and here is the video's thumbnail photo, staged in CM showroom  Big Grin

The pack has been released!
Click to find it on RaceDepartment.
Or maybe you need to be convinced by watching the promo video. Big Grin
