Tuning Setups for fellow racers in need
#1
Exclamation
Hi everyone

I'm Hugo, IGN: PRT RaCeR

I've joined SRS a couple months back as my team mates usually rely on me for tuning setups in any game.
We are PRT Portugal Racing Team and we know each other and race together for more than a decade now.
As result I know exactly how they drive and what they need from a car, so its kinda easy for me at this stage.

After doing a few races in SRS I've noticed that there's still a large amount of racers that still run default setups or even a wrong one that results in poor performance such as not being consistente, unstable and so on.
I want to believe that we all the experienced and newbie alike want to have some nice battles out there and have fun while racing.

So in order to help those in need, I'm happy to create some sort of organized platform thru my twitch/youtube channel where I would be dropping a short hot lap video followed by my personal tuning  setup for that particular combo.
I'm not saying I'm the fastest racer around but i do know how to set a car for a driver.
Just so you have a reference, just have a look at current fastest laps on Skoda Octavia CUP at Brands Hatch. Wink

Tuners don't really have any incentive to share their work, so if you interested I would just ask so you follow me on Twitch and subscribe on YouTube.

So what you guys think of all this ??  Smile

Frankly any little bit of help with all the gear-head aspects of car racing the better. I look forward to stealing using your setups in the future.

Happy to help , I rather have 20 cars doing around same lap times and consistency than having an almost boring race and 16 of those cars are just cluttering the track and eventually most just give up .

Hugo,
This would be a good initiative.
What is your youtube channel?

Would it also be possible to log your lap with ACTI(Assetto Corsa Telemetry Interface) https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads...face.3948/

for the time being, just post car/track in this thread and I will keep checking people needs and get to work Smile
Please be patient as I do 12 to 13 shifts at work and some days have little time to do multiple cars at once, some of this tracks I never raced before and that sets me up a few minutes till I find my line and braking points  Big Grin

I will have a look into MX5 as soon as I finish my Octavia for race 2, it will probably be ready within 48h tho  Wink

Slowly I am trying to set things up bud, open to suggestions also, this actually came from my team mates as they believe I could do something unique for the community and get rewarded on the long run by building a channel like no other in terms of virtual racecraft by helping ppl out Shy

My youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrHO4qU...subscriber

Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/prtracer

They are little channels and I am currently doing some house keeping in both to get things more organized.
I am new to this edit and post video stuff, so bare with me and in no time I get the house spot on  Smile

Also, I'm wondering if there would be way to sort get this thread pinned or something to better spread the word out there within SRS folks  Huh

Nice idea!

But many racers don't practise a track much before the races, maybe a few laps. Therefor the setup is secondary...

In Cayman GT4 last week @ sebring was an ingame chat (top split Confused) like "dunno this track, dunno what i'm doing here, hope to not do any shit" Big Grin

First practise (maybe with an own baseline setup) and then think about setup.

A good baseline setup for a car/driver combo is nice and then needs detailled, individual tuning.

When i didn't know okayama years ago, my setup-guru told me "use your baseline setup, adjust the gearbox, tire pressure and use symmetric settings, drive 40 laps and then we talk about any other changes".

On known tracks it's just using my baseline-setup for a few laps, adjust a bit and then it works not that bad. On unknown tracks i handle it like above.

Before knowing the track well, knowing the racing line(s) and where to overtake and where not, just a setup doesn't give you a big advantage.

If everybody has a more driveable baseline-setup, speed will come by training Wink

Totally agree with your statement, some racers tend to land in a race by parachute and hope for the best Rolleyes
Although I understand playing time can be very limited for some {im one of them}, I do not enter a race without doing some research first Big Grin
its a good practice to get to know the baseline setup BEFORE making any adjustments to a car, even though I can spot what needs to be done before hand in most cases, I can say that there's some decent baseline setups out there, being the MX5 CUP+Zandvoort one of them in my opinion, decent driveability and 1.56s being very achievable.
Tuning setups can help specific driving styles and that's where I come from with my idea of helping people out.
Example, I made an MX5 setup yesterday that is a tad slower than the baseline setup BUT it will suit a driver with slower reaction times, therefore its best for them to progress their experience on a slower car BUT very driver friendly than a Hoonigan that can make them very inconsistent increasing their overall race timer and decreasing their confidence, specially while battling for position Shy

Most situations the fastest setup for a car/track aren't the most friendly to drive due to the compromise aspects, and that's what people need to understand, a car still needs to be driven to post those juicy times, setups are there just to help them  Wink
