Has anyone gotten HBAO+ in AC to work without ridiculous FPS drops?
#1
So last night I just figured out that the Custom Shaders Patch for Assetto Corsa has an NVIDIA's HBAO+ option, making the sim much, much, much nicer to look at, and adds a lot of character especially in the daytime(like ambient occlusion usually does). Thing is, the frames drop from 130 to 80-90 in most tracks and with a grid of 20-25 cars usually drops just below 60 frames (damnit!). Is there some reason for such a big drop? The biggest FPS drops I've seen in other HBAO+ compatible software by activating it is around 15-25 FPS which is fine for me but nearly a full 50 FPS sounds like it's a bit too much. The options menu for the shaders patch has some options for optimizing your HBAO+ but I haven't tinkered with those yet. Your opinions?
