you need to enter manually the launch parameters and when the join button shows, don't click on it, just start pcars2 normally, browse server and join

Notice that there are different URLs for US races (marked with US flag in race list) and EU races (German flag). I was caught out by this because previously I did not even pay attention and noticed the flags.
