Still points after quitting?
#1
Dear all,

Last night I participated in an AC race where most of the field quitted after a few laps. I noticed that these drivers were still awarded points. Some even more than myself because, having finished the full race, I had a few more incidents.

I do not really think this is fair. I think you should only get points if you complete the race. A simple way to implement this would be to only award points if you completed eg 90% of the # laps of the leader.

Am I missing something here?

Good idea. Don't know if its possible. I know there is a suspension if you don't do x number of laps.

Seems reasonable... However, I would say that with so few cars left on the circuit, how are you getting more incidents? If you aren't able to do 10+ laps at mostly race pace safely, maybe you should be practicing the car/track more before joining yourself? I'd be interested to hear which race this was where people ducked out in a hurry... My guess is it is a not-so-simple car/track combo and the majority of drivers simply weren't race ready.

It was the Euro GT2 race at Imola at 2100 GMT on December 21st (2nd server). I had 5 incidents, which was comparable to the other drivers that did the full run. I was 7th and last.

My guess is that a lot of drivers ruined their tyres due to lack of ABS.

Maybe a good cut-off point is half the total laps. Because some people get disconnected by no fault of their own but they shouldn't get 0 points. This gives them time to reconnect.

But people who never intend to do the whole race likely won't hang around for half the race either, so it would mostly just eliminate them from the standings.

It's also because lately a lot have issues connecting with that bug requiring random cars, plenty of races you see 3 or 4 DNF with 0 laps, so those who quit after only a couple of laps get some good points like 70 because of that since they actually finish 17/18 while they should really be last.
