SRSSkin Transfer App issues

How can I get it down < 10 MB? It's 26 right now, just the skin and decals alone add up to 11 MB at 2048x2048 in DXT3 format. Do I need to make them 1024x1024? Should I exclude the gloves and suit DDS files from the folder?

RSS Formula 3, I assume... since you mention decals. Yeah, I had to nuke the custom gloves/suit/helmet, and knock the decals file down to 1K. Which is unfortunate since the reason to isolate the decals file from the base skin is so you can have higher resolution for those details. I think the end result is that the resolution of the decals ends up looking about as good as what I put on the side of the card outside the range of the decals... it probably would have saved me about 45 minutes on the skin if I had just put the logos and nonsense right on the base skin file!

Your results may vary, but yeah, I think no matter what you'll want to delete the gloves/suit/helmet. Just use details from the skins.json file from some other car and pick gloves/suit/helmet from the Kunos stuff. No one will be able to tell. Smile

F3, you assume correct! I'll give it a try, thanks a bunch.

I always put decals on the base skin, no one will be able to tell the difference in game anyway. it looks good enough imo.
making a custom helmet for the F3 can be worth it though the halo sort of makes it harder to see, gloves etc is just a waste of time and space imo.

Agree, although I think you do your work in 3D apps like myself,  which makes putting logos on the base skin WAY easier. One of the conveniences of the decals file is that it's a lot easier to just copy/paste logos directly onto that texture without worrying about the normal warping and such... so not everyone will be able to so easily ignore the decal file. But yeah, hard to tell the difference from even 10ft. away in game. Big Grin

And as for the Halo... so long as the race is open (which this series is) just turn that thing off in the Car Setup and live dangerously! I don't think a digital tyre is going to impact your brain out on the digital track. Wink
