100% grip all the time
#1
Is there some reason that we are wasting the first 8 minutes of Qualifying to get a competent lap?
The problem as I see it is that some folks practice at 100% offline, come on, but then have to baby their first 8 minutes of qualifying so they don't simply lose it. Then there's other people that practice at 100%, come on, and then do NOT baby their first 8 minutes, and become mobile chicanes as they spin out, slam into barriers and back onto tracks, etc.. And none of this is not even counting the folks registering for races that haven't practiced even a little bit. Big Grin
Even if you understand what the grip is doing, everyone else becomes a moving hazard.
Why not just have practice, qualifying, and races set to 100% and take out the unneeded variable?

I enjoy the changing conditions. I would like to see it change a little more slowly or even more randomly.

I like it the way it is, grip starting at lower number and getting higher by the time... gives you some human factor into it, as you have to time and hit your lap well
NEVER GIVE UP!

In my opinion it could even rubber in slower.

Why do you guys want to make something that is already too hard for the majority of the drivers here even harder (i.e. getting around the track cleanly)? Is there really not enough challenge for you during the race?

Russell, I've said the same thing, these drivers want reality vs. online competition, meaning you can't have your cake and eat it too. All we do is WAIT for 100% so we can get our fastest lap in during qualy and it's usually on the last 2 laps vs. having 5 laps to get in your best time. In those 2 laps, you also have to be concerned with staying out of another driver's way and them staying out of your way. They want realism in an online world where nothing is real versus making something more workable and feasible as to give you 5 reasonable chances instead of 2 to qualify your best time....To me it's the same as running 100% damage in an online world, that's fine for drivers up front that don't get damage, they want realism in a world that's not real....just simulated....Wait till SRS starts putting ballast on these faster drivers and see how they complain....lol

Have to agree Russell and Michael at this point.
Best example, first Porsche Cup Qualifying yesterday for me:

Left the Pits first, instant 360 from at least 2 drivers in the mirrow including a blocked Pit exit.

I love the get real part and stuff, including raising grip etc.
But in SRS it's just quick quali, short race.
Low grip would make sense If there was a 30min practise before the qualifying or something like that.

Russels and Michaels points are absolutely plausible for me.

Edit: I ignored the ballast part, Michael :-)

To my understanding grip level also depends on the number of drivers sweeping the track in qualy, i think it's fairly quick to get to 100% with a full grid, like 1lap + the outlap or so, but this might be more an issue for the US sessions as there are usually less drivers so you really have to time it to the very end or even overtime.

Yet another reason to just turn it all the way up and leave it up. Realistic that grip becomes higher over time? Yes. Realistic that it goes from garbage to optimal in less than 10 or even 20 minutes? Regardless of how many people are doing laps? Not so much.

I don't really care about realism in this regard (it's poorly simulated in AC anyways), I just like it when the track state is kind of an unknown and changing factor.
