Which Sim do you prefer for SRS races?
#1
I have done 3 races I think, and they have all been Assetto Corsa, a SIM I have had for quite a while but previously hardly used it as I used PC2 mostly. Since joing SRS I have got familiar with Assetto Corsa and am very impressed with it, as I am with the SRS setup here. I am familiar with Raceroom but only been doing single player testing, so yet to do a SRS race.
Is Raceroom as good as AC for the SRS races?

I guess it depends on what you mean by 'as good'.

If related to the competition level, yes they are very similar and grids are usually the same size.

If related to the way the app works... AC gives more conditions but RRE is easy to use.

try it, this weekend, Raceroom lets you use all content for free!

AC lets you do custom liveries and has things like Helicorsa and Car Radar... apps that help folks with zero situational awareness actually know when they shouldn't be changing lines while racing. RRE has neither of these. But as SRSAdmin says... the latter is free this weekend, so there's no reason not to give it a shot!

I participate in both sims and I'd say the racing is great in both with SRS.

I prefer AC because of the 'quality of life' options it has that Russell mentioned (Custom HUD elements & custom liveries).
RRE's HUD on the other hand is complete and utter dreck!... And yellow text in chat that is just noticeable enough to block my view in the virtual mirror but too light to actually read at a quick glance, grrr! Big Grin

Trying RRE this weekend since it's free content, so far it's ok, just doesn't feel realistic and feels more arcade style. Takes some getting used to i guess.

Thanks for replies guys. A couple of things that were mentioned....
Raceroom being free this weekend. Does that mean that most of the races require new DLC's ? I guess it does, I will find all that out as I become familiar of course.

The ability to have personal Skins in AC interests me, at least a personal number in races. In my race yesterday I was number 11 but there was another number 11, maybe two. How do I reskin my car? I have dowloaded skins from Racedepartment, but not sure what to do next to be honest.. thanks, Mark

First, you should check out how the skin app works :

There are plenty of tutorials for skins but the one Russel made here is great.

AND he also makes great skins for others.

Have reconsidered about a personalised car skin. If anyone can choose someone's personal skin, it defeats the object. Some do it without realising I'm sure, but I'd bet money some will choose an obviously personal skin, 'because they can' and giggle with his mates about it coz their only intention is to p*** someone off.
I'll just race and if there are others who have selected the same number as me, hey ho.

I just shrug when I see someone using one of my skins at this point. In some ways it is complimentary. I don't really think there is much of an element of people here on SRS that would pick someone else's skin in order to piss someone off. I'm fairly sure they do it either because they like how the skin looks in the preview, or they are literally clicking on the first livery.png texture they think is acceptable. There are ways to make it less likely people will pick your skin (like making particularly ugly preview.jpg or livery.png files, or by specifically making them look blank). But yeah... shouldn't be a big deal.
