Here's a shot from my first race with the Taatus livery. Thanks again Russell. I might come back to post more screenshots of the livery later in the season if that's ok.

Look forward to seeing updates and the skins when you get them done. I'm hoping SRS will release the new list soon.

The "Closed for Maintenance" was truly going to be a short break where I mixed things up a bit. I created a questionaire that applicants were going to fill out that asked all the questions I usually ask (what car, what colors are you thinking, do you have design ideas or are you needing me to come up with something) as well as some "test" questions to make sure the applicant understands that I might decide to simply not fill their request (due to time restraints, or due to lack of interest in making their particular idea come to life, etc.).

What I had realized from the 30 or so skins I had made for various people was that I was starting to get in a rutt and a number of the more recent requests were for fairly tame skin ideas that I would inevitably throw together in an hour or so. I started to not even be able to tell them apart!

But I have to be honest... this endeavor was mostly an outlet for my creative juices and in the last two or three months, my professional life has required all of those juices and more as of late, so I'm quite enjoying the "time off".

There may be a time where I start making skins for others again, but for now I'm sticking to making maybe one or two for my own personal use per season.

Thanks for the interest, but for the time being, Russell Sobie's Skin Garage is on extended hiatus. Hope you understand!

I highly recommend dipping your toes into making your own skins. If your idea doesn't need to be flashy, you can get something simple up with your favorite colors in just a few minutes using free software like GIMP.

Hi Russell thanks for the quick answer - as we speak I am trying GIMP as I guessed you were still busy Smile

I am doing some REAL basic stuff. Tonight I managed to get a shell and put a couple of Logos on it and I could view it in AC! So far so good.

Thanks anyway and I will soldier on. I am not that fussed what it looks like but it would be nice to watch a reply and see my own skin and identify my car easily. Keepin' it basic........

One question - can I use real world logos or will SRS as me not too?

Cheers
Martin

I've had real world logos on probably every skin I've constructed and no complaints from anyone.  I don't think there are any rules regarding custom skin contents at all, so long as it doesn't go over the 10MB limit.

I'm certainly not recommending you make a livery with a bunch of dongs all over it, mind. Big Grin

I do like to incorporate the SRS Logo in all the liveries I make that will transfer over the SRSSkin app, when I can.

Details on the skin app here: http://www.simracingsystem.com/showthread.php?tid=736
