Custom skins not visible
#1
The custom skins were visible only to the driver of the car whose skin it was, but to everyone else in The Simpit series driving the 67 Ferrari we looked like we were all driving the same red car.  Seeing that Shaun Cole is live streaming the race, it sure would look nice if all the custom skins are seen.  Is there a problem?  What do we need to do to fix it?

I had the same issue on Brands Hatch today, couldn´t see a few players custom skin and when I watched the SRS YT video from the race my skin wasn´t visible as well.

It's a bit odd, but basically you have to run the skin app in game, and once it says "all available skins are downloaded" or whatever it says, you actually have to restart the game. So essentially you have to join the race really fast, wait around for everyone that has a custom skin to join and upload, and then you have to QUIT, which could bleed into Qualifying time. Good news is that once you do this once with everyone that has a custom skin, you keep those skins locally, so you won't have to do it next race (assuming no new skins are used, anyway).

You don't necessarily have to wait for the Practice time ( 3 min before race) to download/upload skins.
You can start doing it 5 mins before the race (that's what I do).
Start a hotlap session on your own (whatever track/car) when 5 mins before race remain.
As long as the skin app is launched, it will upload/download all skins available for the upcoming race.
So, when you connect at the 3 min time (for practice), you will already have the skins (at least, the ones that were already available on the server : you won't have the new ones that are being uploaded by newcomers during the current practice/qualy of course).

Wait, how does it know to download skins from a server you aren't on yet? Does it know?

I guess I have always been practicing on a DIFFERENT server before an SRS race, so I've never tried this.

It knows you are signed up for a race with less than 5 mins to go. As long as you start a single player session with same car and track as the SRS race you are about to participate in.

Ah, okay so it is the fact that I'm always on a different server. For the SIMPIT races, someone was nice enough to set up a practice server for people to hop on during the week leading up to the races, and many of us hang out there until right before the race most weeks. Cool. Thanks for the info!
