I registered for the corvette race at spa, when the time came to join it came up with this

vrc_1997-williams-fw19 : Error cannot find lods.ini for car
would not let me join

I had the same issue yesterday with the Cupra TCR. I had to download the VRC 1997 Williams from RaceDepartment to be able to join.

This is sometimes an error with CM i think. If it happens, just a restart of CM usually fixes it. Alternatively just search in the 'online' servers for simracingsystem and join your split manually

Just got the same error "ginetta_gt4_rhd : error cannot find lods.ini for car ginetta_gt4_rhd" when trying to join the recent BMW M235i race. Really hope I don`t get a 2 day penalty for not showing because of this. My first weekend in a really long time without wife and kids :/

No suspensions for missing a race, just some loss of rating-points.
You probably saw the post above yours (the quickest fix) "search in the 'online' servers for 'simracingsystem' and join your split manually".
