Personal Skins

You'll be missing out. Making your own livery is lots of fun.

I don't know about doing it (took me some time even though it's pretty basic) but having your own skin is kinda cool. And also being able to recognize instantly who you're dealing with on track. Go for it.
Alfonso, I also had your problem in the beginning of the current Tattuus series, three different guys taking my skin. And yeah it's a little annoying. I sent a PM and it turned out they were new guys and didn't know , they understood, end of story. Hasn't happened since then.
Now, if someone's stupid enough to insist on taking other people's skins even though he's been told, I think it would be nice to know that SRS would intervene.

To select the skin the most of the people just look the pics and they select the one they like best, for that reason is a good idea to change the preview image of the skin.  I deleted the car image and I only put a text saying "personal skin", my name and flag.

Hum...that's actually not a bad idea.
Must try it out, to see if i can "update" my skin and livery using that method.
Thanks Ander.

I've noticed people choosing "private" skins before. I think they just don't notice it. They browse and select the one they like most. Never had that problem though; my Tatuus skin is so ugly nobody chose it so far    Big Grin

Yeah, I've not been able to find a good working version of "black_studio" to take preview images for, so I've been using "white_studio" and half-assing the replication of the same viewing angle of the vehicle. It's pretty clear that it is different than default skins since it is a white background, but certainly changing it to say "personal skin" would be a good way to prevent folks from accidentally choosing it.

Of course, that's a great way for no one to ever see your hard work either, unless you are a bad driver and people spend a bunch of time editing video with you messing up during races, that is. Big Grin

I'm sorry but i disagree...
Of course they will be seeing your hard work, during races and on broadcasts or even if someone decides to make a cool video about sim racing. Big Grin
It's only in the car preview picture where you choose skins on the SRS app, that it won't be visible.

No need to be sorry to disagree! This is a discussion forum, after all. You are, of course, right about getting your skin shown to people in broadcasts (which apparently have way more viewers than I figured). From my own personal experience, however, I very rarely pay attention to other personal liveries outside of the occasional curios click on them when I notice them AFTER I've already raced with someone using the skin in a previous race. I very seldomly restart a race to view newly downloaded skins as I'm usually in the middle of practicing. And even when I do have someone's skin loaded and working, the odds are I won't see them at all during a race. And I have yet to bother watching a broadcast, as cool as that automation is here on SRS. I get way more out of watching replays of myself and more talented drivers via cockpit view!

Anyway, given that it does not appear like there is any way to prevent anyone from using a custom livery that you create, I would follow your advise and alter the preview.jpg for the skin in an attempt to make it obvious that people shouldn't use it. I'm probably going to just stick with keeping the background white and hope that that is enough.

I ve seen a lot of people with others skins.. I am actually surprised to see people thinking that this is not cool, personally I feel flattered that someone would choose my skin over others...

To be honest, I just learned to do skins in the first place because this! and the live transmissions , sure looks nice there, but
my intent was also advertising my family biuisness and add some fun ingame, so as many people uses my skin, the better i supose...

But funny to see how differently humans can see and feel about the same thing..
