Do i need the Ginetta to race with a P1?

As the title states i keep getting an error message that is saying I need different cars for the race I am trying to complete. Is there a reason for this? Or is there another issue that could be causing this? I had the same issue with the Seat cup car the other day and thought it was a fluke issue.
