First look at Unreal Engine V - Igor Relja - 05-13-2020

I don't know how many people are even interested in gaming, but this could be a big thing for a sim racing too.
Even though sims are already pretty decent looking, especially ACC which is running on UE4, or even stuff like Sol or PC2, this could mean that we could have almost perfect photorealism maybe even by the end of the next gen. This lighting, combined with the level of details would look awesome on track. Not necessary cars themselves, probably more environment-wise. Of course, it's best not to think about optimization, or what specs are going to be necessary to run it on high with a decent framerate, but we can always fantasize. Big Grin

Anyway, if you're interested in that kind of stuff but for whatever reason you didn't see it already, check the demo:

wow this looks pretty crazy

Awesome Smile but one of the points is that you won't have to loose time optimizing 3D stuff, LODs etc. before importing

yeah, that combined with raytracing will make development much faster and easier, and it will look 1000 times better than now.
Still cant believe they were able to render this in real time, still remember the punishment modeling something with 20 mil polys on not so strong machine when it was barelly workable in wireframe lol, like 2 sec lag after every mouse click Smile
