Are we allowed to use an auto-gearbox so we don't have to shift gears manually?

I hope we are not. Besides, why would you want to do that? I doubt you can be any close to competitive with automatic gearbox.

I have never tried to use an automatic gearbox, but I do use the paddle shifters in cars that have manual transmissions. I would think that you should be able to configure your setup to work the way you want it to.

I don't know. Always I configure my control for the car: if car has paddle shifter, I run with paddles. If car has a shifter stick, I run with shifter (not paddles). And finally, if autocluth is not permitted, I run with clutch pedal.

You can use auto I did it when I first started before I got my shifter. It works but you will be massively off pace.
