SRS Skin App Problem - Jason Fascione - 02-12-2019

Would someone be kind enough to advise me on my custom skins..
Does just the skin modified skin need to be under 10mb or the whole folder?  Just to test I modified a skin just by placing my name on it. the skin is around 2.66mb but the whole folder is around 14mb, roughly the same size has the standard skins. But the app is telling me it's too large. What am I doing wrong?
So the file itself is for the TCR leon filename SLRC_Body 2.66mb  The whole folder 14.mb

Everything in the folder has to be less than 10mb. I think it's actually closer to like 9.6MB or something.

There's a number of ways to get your skin under that limit. The first thing I usually do is have my skin visible in Content Manager's CM Showroom and just start deleting some of the extra assets in the folder to see what changes. There's always some sort of fallback texture, so if your skin currently has a custom tire texture and you delete it, it'll likely change it from a high-res Michelin to some low res generic tire, or the like. Repeat until you have to delete something you can't live without. Then start looking into cutting the resolution down on stuff.

There's not much need for anything over 2048x2048 for most body work, but some cars have MULTIPLE body textures. I'm not at home right now, but I want to say that the Leon has a bit too many things on a per car basis and you have to cut some corners.

See if you can get your skin under the limit with the above starting tips... if not, drop me a PM and I might see if I can sort you out.

excellent thankyou.... yes most of the skins are around 14mb.. I would just be happy with a low sized white template then I can deal with it from there... I also need a white template for the Cosworth. I'm going to have a play in photoshop see if I can adjust the size limit of the files. if not I will msg you.....
and thanks for the links ill check them out

If you just want a white skin for anything, Content Manager can certainly start you off. Check out the section "Creating your Own Template" in my really old tutorial here: https://tinyurl.com/yaetz4qz

Yeah, for example, the SEAT Leon TCR has a 4k body texture; scaling that down to 2k (2048x2048) doesn't hurt the look and cuts that file's size to 1/4 of the original. At that point you have plenty of room for all the other files that go along with it.
Though strangely the custom file for the window graphics (driver name/number) don't seem to come across, but they show up on SRS TV... hmm.
