You aren't showing file extensions, so I'm curious if your files are actually named correctly? Does the SRS Skin app tell you "upload failed" or "your skin has been uploaded" when you join a server?

Wait, never mind. Your folder is named wrong. Skins for you need to be named "jordan_dion" not "Jordon Dion". Should work for ya.

RE: My skins dont work in SRS - Russell Sobie - 08-01-2018

I typically do skins in 4096x4096 on the main skin file, and then downsample it using Photoshop to 2048, which is plenty high enough resolution for SRS races. It looks like either you are using a lower resolution than that, have low quality source images for your logos to start with, or you are downsampling using options that are sub-optimal for retaining quality.

As for the previews and such not showing up in Content Manager... I have no idea. I didn't have to do anything special for CM to "just work". Sorry!

Thx for the info!
I just saw that the skin of the GT86 (the psd file) is in 1024 in photoshop..

Do you know how to switch up to 2048 ?
For the logos, I use some the racedepartement package that many user use...As far as I know if I change the resolution to 2k or 4k i shoulb be alright!

Oops I found out!

Thanks for your help.

By the way thanks for your guide for skinning!

I installed Mudbox but i these a step that dont work for me ...

And I dont know this program at all.

What the advantage of using mudbox over photoshop?
I know u can see the car in 3d but these content manager for this ?

In Mudbox you can paint directly onto the car. I use both Mudbox and Photoshop for skinning. Check out my series (now on possibly permanent hiatus) here:

Thx!

So your completely deleted some parts of the car in mudbox?
From Mudbox, you save the body paint in dds or in mudboxfile for opening in photoshop?

RE: My skins dont work in SRS - Russell Sobie - 08-01-2018

Most of that information is in my very old tutorial (which I wrote while I was learning the software). But yeah. You delete probably 75% of the model... anything that paint doesn't go on can be deleted. I sometimes leave (and lock so I can't paint on it) portions of the model for reference... things like license plates, emblems, wheels on open wheelers so I don't put logos or anything behind them on accident, etc.). And Mudbox intergrates with Photoshop by allowing exporting to PSD files directly. You can even export to PSD, and then while editing in Photoshop, Mudbox is watching the file. If you save it, it allows you to immediately re-import it back into Mudbox. I typically don't do that since the turn around time is a bit slow for my tastes... Usually it's:

  1. Prep a stencil of stuff in Photoshop (logos/sponsors/patterns/names/numbres)
  2. Import the car into Mudbox
  3. Clean up the model
  4. Paint all the colors/stripes
  5. Paint all the additional design stuff on one side mirrored along the X axis
  6. Export to Photoshop.
  7. Optional: Clean up anything horrible due to poor UVs and re-import back into Mudbox for more painting.
  8. Test the skin in CM Showroom.
  9. Replace all the backwards word-based graphics that are mirrored that need to be on the other side of the car and make any final changes.
  10. Final export to Photoshop.

RE: My skins dont work in SRS - Russell Sobie - 08-03-2018

I left out that step in the tutorial, apparently. As to your second image with the error message, just hit Keep All. Model problems are not really something you can do anything about since altering the actual model would get you kicked from servers for having a mismatch.

Your first image looks like there are a number of meshes that are just rotated off of their correct orientation. Depending on what they are, it may not matter. Likely those are damage meshes. Look under the Object List and select the individual meshes to see what they are called. All damage meshes can be deleted (you don't put texturing on those).

If the meshes ARE something you need to paint, you just have to painstakingly adjust their position as best you can.

Which Audi is that? I might be able to clean the file up for you if it requires moving stuff around.
