Ping - Sebastiaan van den Heuvel - 12-03-2017

Can we report people for having high ping and causing countless crashes because of it?
Isnt there a way to automatically kick people from the server when their ping is in the red? People that race like this are seriously impossible to overtake and cause countless of crashes because of their car teleporting around track. Theres servers for every part of the world, please dont join a EU server if your ping is going to be 300. If you're from EU and your ping is still that high please consider not racing online, get some decent internet or stop downloading midget porn. Thanks in advance.

There is server app for kicking guys with some big ping, should be maybe considered to use it here on SRS

RE: Ping - Stefano Zanella - 12-03-2017

if they kick everyone with red ping the gt asia and abarth series will have like 1-2 people in it

i would like to have the auto kick too, but in rare cases, like today the ping was a lot over 300.

i was in this race too, killed in t1 too..

Well there is high ping and there is red ping. Ive raced in the asia series as well but have never had a problem with my ping being in the red.
Its only when it goes red that cars start teleporting around the track.

High Ping can be reported on the protest form.

Good to know. I have a hilarious video of me getting essentially telefragged by someone with connection issues today.  Big Grin

I'm not sure why Assetto Corsa's network structure can't make some assumptions about clients with poor connections (reports positions physically impossible to other clients) then make the car with issues simply not collide with other cars, server-wide. I'm not engineer, but I know this is a thing that can be done in video games.

Yeah … that would be great. And for sure not that hard to implement.

I guess we just have to report those people and wait until they either get banned or realize to avoid multiplayer racing without a proper connection (the guy yesterday was from Finnland, so geography wasn’t the problem).

RE: Ping - Mateo De Bonis - 12-04-2017

This is stupid, i have a lot of clean fights/battles for the pole and top 3 with good drivers and i havent contact, by the other way i have contact sometimes becuase of ping, but how can i race if i'm Argentinean??? i mean.. the minimun ping i can have is 250ms, 280 average (from 180+ms is Red) so now i can't race anymore? i mean.. i'm user from SRS and race here since 1 week ago, i make 20 races and i win 2 or 3, have like 10 Top3, etc... now i'll not race again on SRS just because i'm in other country far away from the host? That's stupid.

Ok, the thing is that if you have a driver ahead with high ping you need to keep a safe space, and for example in my case, i know that i need to keep a safe space between lowping drivers, i'm always checking helicorsa everytime, if it gets Orange (High ping close to lowPing player) i move until it gets yellow. Yellow -> Transparent are the safe space between low ping and high ping players, just share that information and you'll have less problems, i have a lot of crashes from behind and then when i get spin by that cars behind still crashing (like a nascar crash) but the first bump was maybe because of lag, so check the brake points, T1 Lap 1 is always the worst part between high and low ping players, then is just a normal race, keep some space and that's all.

By the way= My network 50mb internet, 5.4mb download 1.8mb upload = 250-280ms Argentina.
The only way high ping players can low the ping is making a VPN app compatible with Assetto Corsa, that be free of course, i'll not pay a service just because you want guys and then just if this work properly we can low the ping from 250-280 to maybe 100-130ms that 'll be a noticeable difference but still not good enough.

by reporting High Ping, I mean reporting someone who is ruining other drivers race, not the ping value per se.
