How does it work? You may not want to disclose it so to not have people exploiting it, but the thing I want to know is if the system records who made the contact and who suffered it. I understand is not always straight forward to understand who's fault was, but should I be worried about getting penalized for all contacts on my car or only those that I provoke?

All collisions count, against cars, walls, signs etc..

Thank you. And besides getting invalid lap time in practice/qualify and time-speed penalty during the race from Kunos penalty system, does it count something for SRS penalties besides what the game penalties give?
